Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was was raised in Barcelona. Her diverse music has earned her the moniker of "atypical pop star". [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was only 13 years old. She was a musicologist at the Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. Blending flamenco and hip hop and pop The album was followed by "Malamente" (single) as well as "Pienso in tu mira (single). Both songs sold out and garnered a lot of critical praise. Rosalia's albums of 2019 "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were pioneers in urbano music, achieving global success. She introduced reggaeton to a new style on her third album Motomami (2022) which departed from the modern flamenco sound of the previous album. The album gained the attention of the world with its two singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and became the most reviewed album of the year on Metacritic. Rosalia has had a record of ten top-ten songs in the course of her career in her country of birth. It's the highest number for an artist from that area. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the year awards) and four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been conferred to Rosalia. Also, she was awarded two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award, in 2019 for "changing the style of popular music with her distinctive flamenco-infused pop". [18] She was also the first singer from a Spanish group to be recognized for the Best New Artist at the Grammys. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Born in a family with no artistic background She is the eldest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who manages a small family business which specializes in metalworks. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in the year 2019. Her 23-year-old older sister, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) who collaborates alongside Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia began to be interested in performing arts in her early years especially after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. She began her musical studies at Taller de Musics. She was enrolled in a six-year program in the academy. She started attending classes at the Raval school, later transfering to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was the sole singer in her group, singing at weddings and bars that were musical. She was compensated "a less than 80 euros" or in exchange for dinner.
